God is the God of progressive revelation.  He revealed Himself to Moses though the burning fire that did not consume the bush.

“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.” – Exodus 3:1-4

The same God responded to Elijah’s prayer as the Consuming Fire.  I Kings 18:38.  The Scriptures actually referred God as the Consuming fire:

“For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.” – Deuteronomy 4:34

“Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.” – Deuteronomy 9:3

“For our God is a consuming fire.” – Hebrews 12:9

The fire that could consume can also preserve; the fire that could consume could also purify; the fire that could consume; could also beautify.  Every New Testament saint have the privilege of the Spirit within and Spirit upon.  The Spirit upon is the “cloven tongue of fire that sits on every believer”.  The fire is the Seal that preserves the New Testament believer from all evil; purifies us and beautify us in this world that lies in the wickedness of the wicked.  The fire consumes the wicked and all his wicked acts around us.  This is the reason that it becomes impossible for satan and his cohorts to successfully harm us; he can only take any space we give to him.  No wonder that we are instructed to give no place to the devil.  Ephesians 4:27-30

Please make this confession of faith with me: “I am blessed beyond curses.  I am too defended to be a victim.  No matter how wicked the devil has become; he can never harm me, he is under my feet.  I am empowered to succeed in everything that I do.  I am empowered to be victorious in all battles of life.  All the hosts of satan and satan himself have no place in my life, destiny and family; they are nothing but defeated foe.  I am victorious!”

Scriptures for meditation:  I John 3:7-9; Ephesians 4:27-30
