Another outstanding revelation of the Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul:
“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – I Corinthians 6:19-20
The comfort zone of many believers is to engage the above scriptures to ward-off trespassers and intruders (sickness, disease or any affliction of the devil) from their bodies. I have heard a believer proudly declaring “I am God’s property, satan keep off”. That is very good, comforting and spiritually refreshing.
However, it is important to take note of the responsibility dimension of the scripture; as believers in Jesus Christ, we have become spiritual temple of God. Our bodies belong to the One that bought us, no longer ours. We are not free to do just anything we feel or like to our bodies. The Spirit of God lives inside us, He is the owner of the ‘building’ (i.e our bodies – I Corinthians 9:3).
Man became slaves to sin through one man (Romans 5:12) but another Man bought us from the slave market of sin (I Corinthians 7:23). For instance, if you live in a building that belongs to someone else, you try not to violate the rules. The fundamental rule of our owner is to be totally sold out to Him in all things. Mark 12:30; Matthew 22:37
We can easily tell off any intruder (satan, sickness, disease or any form of affliction) into our bodies provided we do not violate the rules of our owner.
