The Amelekites invaded Ziklag (where David and his men dwelt); took away their wives, their belongings and set ablaze every other thing that was remaining. David and his men returned to discover that they had suddenly become empty. The situation was so bad that adults wept like babies until they had no more strength in them to weep (I Samuel 30:4). Even David was greatly distressed not because of his personal loss but;
- Because of the loss of all that belonged to his protégés;
- He even lost the respect of his protégés and they contemplated stoning him;
This is about the worst thing that could happen to a leader. Especially a leader that had mentored protégés would have been referred to as ‘never do wells’ (I Samuel 22:2) in the society to a point positive and visible transformation.
Rather than blame self, any other person or even God and become so depressed and eventually become oppressed, “…David encouraged himself in the LORD his God” – I Samuel 30:6. His self-encouragement enabled him to approach God for his desired solution. He got it, the obstacle posed by the loss resulted in the miracle of total recovery of all.
“And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” – I Samuel 30:7-8
Dr. David Oyedepo said; “even if you have lost anything, it is because of God that you have not lost everything”. Rather than get depressed and consequently oppressed and get destroyed as a result of murmuring and complaining; turn to God, you will recover all like David did!
Puncture that obstacle, your miracle is right in there! Talk to God in prayer and take scriptural steps; you cannot go wrong walking in line with scriptures!
