THE UNCHANGING CHANGER PART V
“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” – Peter 1:19-21
The word of God is referred to as prophecy; not prophecy in the category of others but a more sure word of prophecy that is likened to:
- Light that shines in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arises in our hearts;
- Prophecy that has general application rather than private interpretation;
- Prophecy that came not by the will of man but came through the Holy Ghost;
The prophecies of scriptures are unchanging but they deliver change at different times, situations and circumstances. No matter how far the situation or circumstance looks like as departure from the more sure word of prophecy; the more sure word of prophecy has enough spiritual energy to compel alignment and compliance.
For instance, it does not matter what the doctors or medical people have told you; the more sure word of prophecy says the Jesus took your infirmities and carried your sicknesses. Matthew 8:16-17. The more sure word of prophecy says; you shall not die but live to declare the works of the Lord. Psalm 11817. No matter what your physical body is telling you or your mind is suggesting to you, there shall be an end and your expectation shall not be cut off. Proverb 23:18
Brethren, the prophecies of scriptures are eternal. The prophecies of scriptures are unchanging but they make change happen at will. It is every believer’s responsibility to discover the prophetic word relevant to his or her situation and war with such prophecies to see them fulfilled. The Bible says:
“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;” – I Timothy 1:18
Friends, we don’t watch prophecies, we war with them to seen them fulfilled. We war with prophecies in prayer, in continuous and consistent declaration. Mark 11:23-24. We also war with prophecies in unwavering obedience to the instructions of scriptures. Every prophecy will always place a demand on us as believers. It is our responsibility to know and understand the demands as well as go ahead to fulfil the demands.
The power of God is constant in all generations; it never diminishes, it never wanes, it never expires. In the same vein, the testimonies of God are everlasting. The Bible says:
“The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.” – Psalm 119:144
As a matter of fact, the testimony of Jesus Christ is regarded in scriptures as the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10. It means that the testimonies of scriptures are not just prophetic; they do not have expiry dates. They remain relevant forever. However, the testimonies of scriptures have inbuilt power to secure change at any time.
