The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God.  By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Paul said:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16

The gospel of Christ is the good news.  It is the message of salvation with in-built life-changing and life-transforming power which is for everyone.  Just like Apostle Paul; every believer ought not to be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ thereby reaching out to the lost spreading the Good News.

Every believer in Jesus Christ has privileged access to the power of the Holy Spirit to carry out the noble mission of soul winning to the kingdom of God.  The Bible says:

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

As a believer, you are born of the Spirit.  John 3:6. You have the privilege of receiving ‘Spirit upon’ which is the Holy Ghost baptism with the evidence of speaking with new tongue.  Mark 16:17. This is the spiritual initiation to the realm of power meant for witnessing Christ to the world.  The “power” received after that the Holy Ghost is come upon a believer includes (but not limited to) courage, boldness, confidence, insight, divine ability and spiritual authority.  Just like physical exercise builds stamina; the more we use the “power” received from the Holy Ghost, the better it becomes for us; the stronger we become in the Lord.  The seventy “others” returned from their missionary journey with good news of having satan and his agents subdued before them.  The Bible says:

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  And he said unto them, I beheld satan as lightening fall from heaven.  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpent and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 1:17-19

Someone may say “but the people had not received the Holy Ghost as at that time because Jesus Christ commanded them to tarry in Jerusalem for power in Luke 24:49”.  Please note this; Jesus Christ referred to the Holy Spirit as “…another Comforter…”  John 14:16. A Comforter in our context is a “Helper”, a “Standby”, a “Counselor”, an “Advocate”, an “Encourager” a “Strengthener”.   Before Jesus Christ came to the world; God the Father was the very present help to His people.  Psalm 46:1. What the Father was, was what Jesus Christ was to His people in His earthly ministry.  Jesus empowered the people for their missionary assignment; I mean for the real issue!

What God the Father and God the Son was, is what the Holy Spirit is to believers in Jesus Christ of today.  Believers are empowered by the Holy Ghost today for the real issue!  The real issue is witnessing Christ to the lost.  It is winning souls into the kingdom of God and getting them established in your local assembly.

The disciples did that in Jerusalem and Judaea; Deacon Philip did it solely in Samaria.  Acts 8:5-8.  God expects you and I to do the same in “… the uttermost part of the earth”.
