THE POWER OF EXPECTATION V

“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.” Philippians 1:20

No rational human being expects shame.  No same person desires to be humiliated, disgraced or disrespected.  The natural instinct of man reacts to any such thing.  It is natural to see people quarrelling: even between husband and wife, friends, siblings, parents and their children and the reason is because they felt disrespected.  Apostle Paul said that his earnest expectation and hope is not to be ashamed.  By the help of the Holy Spirit, he was able to show us in the same passage of scriptures what he needed to do; that is, to have Christ magnified in his body with all boldness whether by life or by death.  He wanted to honor Jesus Christ whether in life or in death. He said in the following verse:

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

Apostle Paul was so committed and dedicated to honoring Jesus Christ.  His life and personal comfort did not mean so much to him as having the purpose of God accomplished on the earth.  Many people on the earth (including some believers) are too engrossed about things of this life as it pertains to them rather than the things of God.

To those that don’t believe in God, life on earth is all that there is; so, it is common, logical and reasonable for them to strive for the world’s values represented by money, popularity, social status, power, prestige etc.  They are more concerned and care so much about how the world perceive them and care less about how God sees them.

Just like Apostle Paul, our expectation should be to develop eternal values by telling others about Christ.  This lines up with the expectation of God to have everyone saved.  II Peter 3:9.  Hell was created and reserved for the devil and his fallen angels (demons) not for human beings.  Apostle Paul who never had the privilege of seeing Jesus Christ physically in His earthly ministry emerged as the greatest of all the apostles simply because his expectations were not mundane but they are of eternal value.

Any believer who will follow the steps of Apostle Paul can inherit the promise of greatness on the earth and eternity with Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 6:12.  Honor Jesus Christ by telling people about Him daily, gathering them into the kingdom and having them established in the church.  Your expectation shall not be cut off!

If you are yet to receive Jesus Christ into your heart as Lord and personal Savior; there is no future for any expectation outside God.  The Bible says:

“The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.” – Proverbs 10:28

Anyone that neglects the loving and saving arms of God through Jesus Christ is regarded as a wicked man/woman before God.  Don’t wait for the next minute, time is running out, go straight to the salvation page on our website; say the prayers there and be in church next Sunday to consolidate your decision for Jesus Christ.  Then, I can prophesy with all boldness to you that “your expectation shall not be cut off”.  You will have the best of time here on the earth and reign with Jesus Christ in eternity. Peace!
