We understand from scriptures that Christianity is a race. I Corinthians 9:24; Hebrews 12:1. The race is not sprint; it is marathon. Jesus said only those that endure to the end shall be saved. Matthew 10:22; Matthew 24:13. It is expected that we continue to run and consistently too so as to hit the tape and win the prize.
For instance, faith demands continuity and consistency otherwise the rewards may be lost. Walk and work of righteousness demands continuity and consistency otherwise we may lose our place among the saints and be relegated to the ignoble position with the infidels where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Serving God and the interest of His kingdom demands continuity and consistency otherwise the rewards may cease. Being an “ex” in the kingdom is not just a minus, it is dangerous. The Master does not reckon with “ex”; He reckons with the current and present. It is the power of continuity and consistency that makes a believer current and present before God.
Apostle Paul had the testimony of continuity and consistency all through his ministry. He said:
“For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:” – Acts 26:21-22
He continued in faith, his walk with and work for God, his love for God and His kingdom; he had the testimony of ending well with God. He said:
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – II Timothy 4:6-8
Apostle Paul was so sure of his eternal crown of righteousness because he subscribed fully to the demands of continuity and consistency. The power of continuity and consistency will deliver the rewards of all that pertain unto life and godliness to us here on the earth and everlasting crown in eternity. Any believer who is unstable does not really have a future both here on the earth and in eternity with God. Jesus made it clear that only those that endure (subscribe fully to the demands of continuity and consistency) to the end shall be saved. Mark 13:13. Those that “endure” for a while and became offended as a result of the persecution arising from the world as a because of the word they received will have nothing to show for it at the end of the day. Mark 4:17.
As believers, we must give ourselves to continuity and consistency in our faith, walk with and work for God. Don’t be an ex-service person in God’s kingdom. Don’t be a retired soul winner. There is no reward for that, both here on the earth and in eternity. As you give yourself to continuity and consistency; your reward is around the corner and your eternal enthronement shall not elude you in Jesus Name.
