“And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.” – Acts 1:13-14

Jesus told the disciples to “tarry” in Jerusalem until “…they be endued with power from on high”.  Luke 24:49.  They had to continue in prayer and supplication to see the prophecy fulfilled though they heard it directly from Jesus.  They continued in prayer for an upward of fifty days; forty days between resurrection and ascension and ten days between Ascension and Pentecost.  It took the power of continuity and consistency to see the reality of the prophecy.

They continued in prayer in Chapter One; they kept praying in Chapter Two of the Book of Acts until the day of Pentecost was fully come, they had prayer hour in Chapter Three.  Acts 1:14; Acts 2:1; Acts 3:1.  They kept praying in Chapter Four and they made a resolution to give themselves to prayer and ministry of the word in Chapter Six of the same book.  Acts 4:23-31; Acts 6:4.  There was a clear demonstration of the raw power of God in the first Church; this was as a result of continuity and consistency on the prayer altar.  It took continuity and consistency to provoke the release of power; it took the same to sustain the power.

For instance, Jesus Christ taught us that the power of continuity and consistency in prayer would melt the heart of even an unjust judge who neither feared God nor regarded men.  Luke 18:1-8.  As a matter of fact, we are admonished that God will respond speedily to our continuity and consistency on the prayer altar even when it looks like things are naturally delayed.  God is not slack concerning His promise as men count slackness.  II Peter 3:9

The devil often attacks believers’ continuity and consistency on the prayer altar knowing that is where the power lies.  Believers rush to the prayer altar when there is a biting challenge and fall back when it looks like there is respite.  It takes continuity and consistency to keep the fire burning.  We need the fire to keep burning to keep the bull of Bashan off our territory.  Leviticus 6:12-13; Isaiah 59:19.

You may have been involved in making spiritual investments praying kingdom advancement prayers and it seems nothing has happened or is happening to validate Matthew 6:33 in your life; continue praying, remain consistent, as you pass the test of continuity and consistency, your intensified miracles shall be delivered.

You may have received certain benefits for your engagements.  Thank God for the testimony of yesterday and even today as a result of travails on the prayer altar.  Continuity and consistency is necessity to keep the flow.  Where there is no fresh touch, the testimony of yesterday would soon start breeding worms and stinking just like yesterday’s manna.  Exodus 16:16-20
