“For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.” – Job 14:7-9

Naturally speaking when a tree is cut down, it looks like a setback for that tree. However, from our text today, it is not really a setback but rather a step-back because the tree only needs a “scent of water” to bud again and bring forth boughs like a plant.

Brethren, there is hope for you even in the state you are right now.  Your natural state may be a picture of setback, may be so bad that it looks like you may never measure up to your peers again.  It may even look like you are fighting a naturally lost case.  The good news is that, as long as your hope is still alive; your tree will bud again, it will not only bud; it will bring forth boughs like a plant.  It means that you will measure up with your peers again.  It means that whatever is making you unfit among your peers shall be taken care of for good.  It means that “rottenness” shall be transformed to freshness and unending growth.

Friends, whatever cannot kill your hope cannot truncate your God-ordained transformation. God has ordained a change of story for you.  He planned a change of status and levels for you; your hope in God is God’s raw materials to bring His plan to pass in your life.

The stronger one’s hope, the stronger one’s faith.  When hope becomes weak, faith becomes weak.  The Bible says:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.” – Hebrews 11:1-2

Remember, faith is the producer of good reports but faith will never be where hope is not existing.

Your time of good reports is now!  Your setback shall be turned to step-back for outstanding progress.
