“And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” – Acts 4:29-31

Just like light may not be so conspicuous in a bright sunny day; boldness may not be that noticeable, discernible or apparent in a regular run without any visible opposition.  The greater the opposition the more distinct any act of boldness becomes.  The disciples were face-to-face with threatening bullying and warning from the authorities to stop using the name of Jesus Christ after the healing of the man at the beautiful gate but they responded with strange boldness:

“But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” – Acts 4:17-20

Brethren, the disciples stood the risk of jail and even execution because of their profession of faith yet they reacted to the threat to stop preaching in the name of Jesus Christ with such audacious statement as “…whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.  For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard”!  They had an unusual courage to preach the gospel!  They resolved to continue to use the name of Jesus Christ irrespective of the warnings!

Friends, many things are challenging our boldness today: our individual testimonies; fear of rejection when we attempt to witness Christ to others, others’ testimonies about us and many of such have cowed many believers.  Many believers have become passive receptors of stimuli when God designed that we should broadcast His word and Name on the mountain top.

The good news here is that we can ask for boldness just like the Apostles did. However, they asked for boldness to do the will of God.  We can also ask for boldness to do the will of God; especially, boldness to witness Jesus Christ to the dying world.  The reward ca be so amazing; the Apostles were filled with great grace and great power as a result of that prayer for boldness.  The opposition could not handle them!

Any prayer for help to do the will of God is always a priority in God’s prayer answering agenda.  The bolder we become in carrying out God’s agenda on the earth the more we are useful to Him to fulfil His mandate.  Many believers are asking God to use them but God is also looking for the bold to use. The good news is that we can become bold by asking Him to make us bold just like the disciples did.  You cannot be used by God and not be blessed by Him. God is not looking for who to use but who to bless.  Exodus 23:25-26.

You will not lose your place in the army of Jesus Christ for this end-time.  As Him for fresh empowerment for boldness.  If you have not yet received Holy Ghost baptism (the Spirit upon), ask you pastor to help you and you will be guided; Jesus Christ will baptize you.  Then, ask for fresh baptism of the Spirit of boldness (the same Holy Spirit is the spirit of boldness).  The beauty of service in the end-time army of God will manifest in your life and destiny!
