THE BASICS OF THE FUNDAMENTAL II

THE BASICS OF THE FUNDAMENTAL II

Faith is the core of our Christian adventure.  The quality of a believer’s life is a function of his/her faith.  We have established from scriptures that faith begins when the will of God is known.  We also established that the seat of faith is the heart.  The bible says;

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10

With the heart man believes.  Please note that the heart is the spirit.  Romans 2:29.  The Bible calls it the hidden man of the heart;

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” – I Peter 3:4

The hidden man of the heart is not visible, not physical, and indestructible and cannot be handled physically.  The heart (which is the spirit) is a whole spirit being that can be built up just like the physical body.  The mind is the gateway to the heart (the spirit).  The mind serves as the buffer storage for the heart.  It is the Word of God that gets into our heart that feeds and powers our faith.

The ears and the eyes capture the Word of God for the mind; the Word retained in the mind is sent to the heart.  Consequently, the heart must retain the Word of God enough to power our faith just like the food eaten would only nourish the body after getting into the system, settled and processed (i.e. digested) in the system, then, nourishes different segments of the body.  The bible says:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” – Colossians 3:16

Brethren, the Word of God captured by the ear and the eyes must be pondered over (meditated upon) in the mind continually.  The process of thinking through the Word of God squeezes out the juices in the Word needed to feed, nourish and power our faith.  The heart should serve as the permanent storage of the Word of God in man.  The heart is the seat of reasoning and also the place for spiritual understanding.  The Bible says;

“And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?” – Mark 2:8

“The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.” – Proverbs 15:14

It is the level of spiritual understanding that actually determines the level of faith.  Thirtyfold understanding will power faith to thirtyfold level which will in turn deliver thirtyfold result while sixtyfold will power sixtyfold faith to deliver sixtyfold result and hundredfold will power hundredfold faith to deliver hundredfold result.

“But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” – Matthew 13:23

Friends, we must keep loading the Word of God into our minds; process, ponder and meditate on the Word of God for our hearts to access spiritual understanding needed for our faith to come alive.  F. F. Bosworth (one of the foremost men of faith in the last century) said “many people will feed their bodies with three hot meals daily but will feed their spirit with one cold snack weekly”.  This may be the picture of many so-called believers today.

There should be a deliberate time set aside for ‘Word ingestion’; for ‘Word meditation’ and that should be daily.

Your life will be an attraction into God’s kingdom.  The happenings in your life and family will compel others to come to Christ.

Scriptures for meditation:  Matthew 13:18-23; Luke 8:11-15
