“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” – II Corinthians 4:16-17

Brethren, refuse to faint; that light affliction is but for a moment.  The good news is that a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory is being worked out for you behind the scene.  The pain you are going through right now will soon be turned into amazing gains that will beat your imagination.

Friends, it is both natural and easy to lose heart and quit in the face of challenges.  Certain challenges do come (to even believers) that could make a believer think about giving up.  Wait a minute, rather than contemplate giving up; look inward, because the outward man may be wearing out but the inward man is renewed day by day.  The Holy Spirit on the inside of you supplies the strength needed for the journey ahead.  Do not let what is happening around you (which is temporal anyway) to dictate your action.  Do not let criticism, mockery, negative results, failure, and all the like force you to quit.  Rather, renew your commitment to serving Jesus Christ.  The pain is temporal, the gain is eternal.

Refuse to allow the troubles and problems around to cause your faith to wane and diminish.  Just like silver or gold going through fire and get refined to reveal the beauty, the glamor and the value.  You are coming out purer than gold.  Look beyond the “light affliction” and you will see the glorious reward that awaits you.  See the “light affliction” as an opportunity for God to demonstrate His power in your life.  It is an opportunity for you to have a miracle and share your testimony.  The problem is temporal, your victory in Christ is eternal.

You may have been looking for a more financially rewarding job without success; you may have been trusting God for marital breakthrough without any positive result to show, you may have been writing that examination and kept failing it.  You may have even been trying to get healed of a particular sickness but to no avail.  Never get dismayed, the “light affliction” is but for a moment and working out a far more eternal weight of glory for you.  Your testimony will make you completely forget that you ever went through any challenge.  The weight of your miracle will consign the memory of your challenges to oblivion.

Don’t give a permanent reaction to a temporary challenge!  Your testimony is around the corner!
