“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands. The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.” – Isaiah 42:9-13

Brethren, have you had any experience of a fulfilled promise of God in your life?  Virtually everyone has it.  You got saved by His grace.  Ephesians 2:8.  You are reading this piece because the Lord sustained you.  Psalm 3:5.  Many things He said in His Word concerning you have come to pass already.  His daily benefits that we enjoy by His grace are well spelled out in His word.

In the light of many fulfilled promises of God in our lives, we can orchestrate new happenings by singing a new song to Him.  Singing a new song to God is a scriptural initiative towards provoking new happenings in our lives.  Those who sing new songs to God move Him to make new things happen for them.  It goes without saying that singing the new song is not just a function of what has happened, we can sing a new song to make things happen.  We can sing a new song in the “valley” (that is, when it looks like things are not what they should be or they are not what we expect them to be), we can also “shout” at the top of the mountains (that is, when things are going great) to move the Lord to go forth like a mighty man.

Friends, a new song makes the Lord stir up jealousy like a man of war.  The doings of the Lord around your life will stir up jealousy among men.  His acts and mighty works will cause men not just to notice you but to recognize you.  Singing a new song could mean praising God in a time when it is natural to murmur or complain about things.  It could mean glorifying God when it looks like people are thinking and asking “where is your God?”  It could also mean doing things and taking steps that bring honor and glory to God.  For instance, soul-winning brings honor to God.  The Bible says:

“In the multitude of people is the king’s honor: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.” – Proverbs 14:28

Being part of bringing multitudes into God’s kingdom brings honor to God.  Every new soul brought into the Kingdom is likened to singing a new song to God.  As a matter of fact, there is joy in heaven for every soul that repents.  Luke 15:7.  If we are part of bringing honor to God, we will be qualified to receive honor from God.  I Samuel 2:30.
