INSIDE OUT V

“And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go far away: intreat for me”.  Exodus 8:28

Pharaoh, negotiating the liberty of the children of Israel said:

  • You (Israelites) are released to go;
  • Serve the Lord your God;
  • Sacrifice to Him as you have decided;

But:

  • Don’t go far away.

The implication of this is that they should not go far away so that they could be captured easily and put back into the cage of bondage as and when Pharaoh decided to.

The devil is still negotiating with believers today:

  • You can be born again;
  • You can belong to a church;
  • You can even join a service unit;

But:

  • Do not be fanatical about your Christianity;
  • Let your Christianity be ‘moderate’;
  • You can compromise your faith once in a while;
  • You don’t have to make your Christianity to look like a do or die kind of engagement;
  • Take things easy;
  • You can be one-leg-in and one-leg-out.

The devil knows that if he could get any believer to become laid back and lukewarm; that believer would soon be spewed out of God’s mouth.  Revelations 3:16-17.

When a believer goes into spiritual slumber, he has returned to the cage of the devil as a captive.

Dr. David Oyedepo said; “If you take things of God easy, you will soon be eased out”.  Those who took serving God easy have faded out of relevance today.  Any believer that is not growing hot in the service of God is growing cold.  Christian name, title, and membership of a local assembly could be deceptive.  Samson still had his name, had his title when he had lost the fire.

Attending church once only on Sundays as a believer is not spiritually healthy.  There may be scores of natural or economic reasons but none will be spiritually strong enough.  Many pride themselves as members of a local assembly but have gone into a spiritual coma without knowing.  Some others have become so lukewarm that God had spewed them out of His mouth yet they believe they are still Christians.  Bishop David Abioye said: “attending church once a week, makes you weak all through the week”.

The devil will never fight a believer for being cold or lukewarm; he uses them to carry out his ministry of stealing, killing, and destroying.  A lukewarm believer is an instrument of contention and confusion in the church.  The devil is ever afraid of believers that are flaming fire.

The journey of Christianity is only worth it if believers go all the way!
