“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” – Revelation 1:18
If Jesus Christ came to the world; preached to show the way and gave the light to all that lived in darkness (Matthew 4:16); died but never rose from the dead, we would have been most miserable of all men. I Corinthians 15:19. Christianity would not have been different from any other religion.
Some religious leaders preached morality, good human relations and sound principles for human decency but none died and rose again. Many of them died and probably are at the opposite side of heaven. All their followers are following dead principles.
Christianity is alive and “live” because Jesus died and rose again; he lives for evermore. His message is alive; His word is live. John 6:63. Following His message is following life; living by His word is having life in you.
Jesus Christ is not just alive; He has the keys of hell and of death. No one else has that (including all other religious, popular political or opinion leaders). It means no one enters hell without His knowledge; no one dies without Him knowing! Therefore, every genuine believer is free from eternal bondage to satan.
You cannot be a genuine believer and mistakenly end up in hell, no way. Hell is eternally shut against believers. The One that has the keys of hell shuts and no one opens. Revelation 3:8. In the same way, you cannot be a sinner and mistakenly end up in heaven. Hell is eternally open to sinners and heaven is shut against them. All believers need to do is to turn from sin to Jesus Christ in faith.
Do not try to control your life; you cannot, you do not have the ability to do it right. Trying to do that means disregarding God and His ways. Place your life in the hand of Jesus Christ through His word; you are sure to live because He lives; you will enjoy eternal peaceful relationship with Him in the world to come.
I am so sure that I am not going to hell because my Master holds the keys; I am sure of eternal life because my Master holds the keys!
