“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of the devil were all their lifetime subject unto bondage.” – Hebrews 2:14-15
Prior to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the devil had the power of death. The implication of this is that people had no choice but to be subjected to lifetime bondage of fear of death. No one could help him/herself; no one was free from this satanic captivity of the fear of death. People are meant to “live” and die with the bondage.
Glory be to God in the highest; the Word became flesh and blood. John 1:14. He became human so He could die and rise again in order to destroy the devil’s power over death. He chose to lay down His life to humiliate the “humiliator” of mankind, which is death. He chose to destroy the one that had the power of death which is the devil. No one ever dies and resurrected on his own! Jesus Christ died and rose again by the Power of God in Him!
Believers are freed from the bondage of fear of death to live for God. Fear has torment. I John 4:18.
The activities that took place in His death and resurrection have confirmed that:
 The enemy called “the devil” is no longer in control of death;
 Believers are free from the captivity of the bondage of the fear of death;
 Believers are empowered through the knowledge of the truth of His death and resurrection to live for God without being afraid of the devil;
 The greatest weapon in the hands of satan (which is the fear of death) has been removed from him;
 Believers are empowered through the knowledge of the truth of His death and resurrection to live and accomplish their purpose on the earth. Jesus Christ fulfilled His purpose in His earthly ministry. He said, “…it is finished”. John 19:30. Every believer has the right to fulfil his/her purpose on this world before saying ‘good bye’.
 Jesus Christ proved that death is not the end but the gateway to new life: eternal life;
 Believers have access to the power of His resurrection! This is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) that has ever happened to mankind.
Hallelujah! The King of kings arose; the King of kings lives forever!
