GOD IS MINDFUL OF YOU PART II
“Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth forever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” – Psalm 111:1-10
The works of the Lord are great; His work is honorable and glorious; we are the work of His hand, the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:3. It means that we are created great; we are made honorable and glorious. As a matter of fact, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14. Our lives and the happenings around us should command marvel among men. We are so important to God and all creation.
Brethren, God is mindful of his covenant concerning you. He has vowed that He will never change His covenant because He is mindful of you. Psalm 89:34. It is not just that He is mindful of His covenant; He is ever mindful of His covenant. It goes without saying that His covenant remains effective ad infinitum. He tied His covenant to the existence of day and night. Jeremiah 33:20-21, 25-26. God declares us honorable, we are honorable indeed; He declares us glorious, we are glorious indeed. God is full of compassion! He sees and knows what you are going through now. He feels your pains.
Brethren, He sent redemption to us because He is full of compassion and He is ever mindful of His covenant. We can rest assured that there will always be a change for the better in our lives. If it is not good, it will change. If it is good, it will change for the better. Even if it looks great, it will still get better. God is mindful of us.
A crucial factor is mentioned in our text today; “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments…” We demonstrate the fear of the Lord (among other things) by doing His commandments. Each time we disobey God, we demonstrate a lack of or shallow love and fear for Him. We must take God seriously by taking His word seriously.
Friends, God is mindful of you. We must reciprocate this great honor by being mindful of Him; we must keep doing His commandment, we must walk in the fear of the Lord as a lifestyle. Whatever is confronting us is actually confronting God that is mindful of us. Remember that nothing can stand the way of the Lord. Psalm 24:7-10. Nothing can successfully block His way.
Passive Christianity is not beneficial. God detests passive Christianity. He would rather want us to be hot or cold not luke-warm. No matter what it looks like in the beginning, active Christianity will always deliver amazing benefits at the end.
Take note again, God is mindful of you!
