GOD CANNOT LIE PART VI
God stated expressly in His word that He is unchanging. Malachi 3:6. His word is settled forever in heaven. Psalm 119:89. The Bible says that He cannot repent like a man would after having gone astray.
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” – Numbers 23:19
Whatever He says is good any day, anytime and anywhere. The political factor, socio-economic factors, weather, or any other prevailing circumstances notwithstanding. What God says stands sure forever. If believers would take some time to meditate on the infallibility of God’s word; faith would automatically grow. Romans 10:17. The word of God is the Truth. John 14:6. Any contrary opinion to the word of God remains falsehood forever. The Bible says:
“For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.” – Romans 3:3-4
It goes without saying that the opinion of an expert, professional or technocrat that contradicts the word of God is nothing but lies. Some of those opinions may actually be facts but when the truth comes on the scene, the fact could suddenly become a misnomer. For instance, Truth says that God took believers’ infirmities (sickness or disease) and that by the stripes of Jesus believers were healed. Matthew 8:17; I Peter 2:24. It means that the diagnosis or test result is given to a believer indicating the presence of any sickness or disease in the believer’s body is pointing to someone telling lies; either the author of the diagnosis/test or God. We just established that God cannot lie. Therefore, the author of the diagnosis/test must have lied or the flesh of the believer is telling lies by the manifestation of the feeling that led to the test.
For believers to make the most of the truth that God cannot lie, we must regard any opinion that contradicts what the word of God says as mere lies irrespective of the source of that opinion. If your counsel tells you that there is no “way” regarding any good thing that you desire; all you need to do is to turn to the word of God. The word of God is a personality! John 1:1,14. He said, “I am the Way”. He is also the Life. John 14:6. You can never fail nor be stranded with the word of God.
However, it is important to remind ourselves that in this week’s study, we have been looking at the two sides of the coin; appropriating the benefits of the truth that God cannot lie and accepting responsibility to carry out whatever the word of God demands of us. This is responsible Christianity.
Dr. David Oyedepo said; “any faith that makes God absolutely responsible for your need is an irresponsible faith”. There is always what the believer should do for God to do something. God relates with man on the platform of the covenant. It is spiritual maturity to always go all the way to fulfill the demand so as to take delivery of the promise. The Christianity of “do nothing because God has done everything” may always end in frustration. You will succeed in Jesus Name!
