The resurrected Christ said to the disciples:

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” – Luke 24:49

Power for what?  Power to do what?

This was answered and made clear in Acts 1:8; Jesus Christ said:

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

The reason for the power is not just to kill witches and wizards, or to subdue satan and all his demonic forces; the reason for the power is to be a witness.

Being a witness of Christ is not about a religious sect; it is consistently winning souls for Christ.  Speaking with tongues is an evidence of an indwelling power of God in a believer often referred to as the ‘Spirit upon’.  Being content with speaking with tongues without consistent soul winning is ‘spiritually absurd’.  The tongues may have become a mere ‘sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal’ without any natural or spiritual signification.

The question is; Am I baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with tongues?  If yes!  How committed Am I to soul-winning?  The resurrected Jesus Christ said, “…and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”

We are supposed to be ambassadors of Christ reconciled to God and in the ministry of reconciling others to God.  We meet scores of people daily; do we tell them about Christ?  We can develop the habit of feeding God at all times by choosing to tell everyone that God brings our ways about Jesus Christ daily or even hourly.
