Our title this week may sound absurd. How can a human being feed the Lord? Are we talking about offering sacrifice (of all kinds and types as in the Old Testament) to God? Many more questions may be popping up in the mind.
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” John 4:34
God the Son said his food is to do God’s will and to finish the work of the Father. Prior to the statement in the scripture above, Jesus Christ had arrived at Sychar (a city of Samaria) with his disciples tired and fagged out. John 4:6. The disciples went to the city to buy food and returned expecting him to pounce on the food like a hungry Lion. They were astonished by his indifference to their plea to eat. He said;
“…I have meat to eat that ye know not.” – John 4:32
They were gobsmacked and thought that probably someone had brought something for him to eat before they came. Then responded he with John 4:34
Every believer is sent to the world the same way Jesus Christ was sent to the world not just to claim benefits and promises of God but also to accept scriptural responsibilities and discharge them. John 17:18; John 20:21
Doing the will of Him that sent you (as a believer) and finishing same is feeding the One that sent you.
What is this will? If Jesus Christ tarries in His second coming; we shall explore His primary will this week. See you tomorrow.
