The presence of fear is clearly the absence of faith just like the presence of darkness depicts the absence of light.  Fear is believing the enemy rather than believing God.  It is faith malfunctioning.  Fear is definitely not from God.  The Bible says:

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – II Timothy 1:6-7

Fear is not a gift from God; it is also not a mere emotional response to danger.  It is a foul spirit from the devil.  It is a spirit of bondage that destroys peoples’ faith and keeps them caged for satanic affliction and oppression.

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15

To see or identify fear as a mere emotional reaction is to have fallen for another deceit of the devil; fear is clearly a spirit of bondage sent from the pit of hell to attack believers’ faith so as to sentence them into doldrums of failure, stagnation and melancholy.

Someone says; “if fear comes knocking, send faith to open the door and you will discover that no one is really there”.  That sounds sweet but you can only send the faith you have to open the door when fear knocks!

The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.  Romans 10:17.  Fear also comes by hearing and hearing by the word of satan; since satan is the author of fear.  Jesus said:

“And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.” – Mark 4:24

What you hear defines what enters into you.  The Spirit of faith can gain access to you through what you hear.  Ezekiel 2:2.  In the same way, the spirit of fear can gain access to anyone who constantly and consistently hears the word of the devil.

From listening to friends, colleagues, professionals, music or even to news and others, it is scriptural wisdom to select what you hear; certain things have been programmed from the pit of hell to inject fear rather than build faith.  It is the believer’s responsibility to decipher what builds his/her faith embrace such and refrain from what destroys faith.  Fear eats up faith where and when allowed.

There is no known effective psychological, physiological or philosophical treatment for fear; the lasting cure for fear is building up the inner man with the word of God.  It is building up share trust and confidence in God and looking up to Him who is the Author and Finisher of our faith and practical love for God and the interest of His kingdom.
