“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” – II Peter 1:4

The great and precious promises of God for His children are anchored on us becoming partakers of His nature.  By redemption, we have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust; but we are not just left hanging in the middle of nowhere.

Brethren, a puppy’s initial vocalization may be grunting and whining but the nature of barking is born with it; all it needs to do is to grow and manifest its true nature.  A lion cub may make certain sounds that would not be distinctively called roaring but the nature of roaring is right in the lion cub; all the lion cub needs to do is to grow and manifest its true nature.  It is in the DNA of a puppy and a lion cub to manifest the full nature and stature of their root but until growth takes place, the manifestation is not in view.

Friends, we are ordained to be partakers of divine nature; the nature of God.  Yes! The nature of the One that created all creations.  However, manifesting divine nature will be a mere illusion if we fail to deliberately develop ourselves to grow into it.  The Bible says:

“They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most high. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” – Psalm 82:5-7

Spiritual growth which is one of the fundamental requirements for access to divine nature is facilitated by knowledge and understanding.  It is spiritual knowledge and understanding that define spiritual growth.

“Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;” – John 10:34-35

Jesus Christ validated the Old Testament verdict that those who have the privilege of receiving the word of God are gods.  It is an indication that those who have the knowledge and understanding are the ones being referred to as gods.  Without knowledge and understanding, spiritual growth is not in view.  It is spiritual growth that facilitates the manifestation of divine nature in us.  Divine nature is not what we acquire or receive by any means at certain points in our lives.  Divine nature grows with us as we grow in knowledge and understanding of God, His kingdom, and all that has to do with Him.

This week, we shall be taking an adventure into the journey of divine nature.  It is important to note that divine nature will always position us above the natural; above the ordinary and above the normal.

It is your turn to manifest divine nature in the natural world.  It is your turn to be extra-ordinary in the ordinary world.  It is your turn to be super-normal in the normal world.
