“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by Spirit that dwelleth in you.” – Romans 8:10:11
Anyone who claims to be a believer in Jesus Christ dwells in Christ and Christ in him/her. II Corinthians 5:17. One fundamental proof of Christ in man is the deadness of the body to sin. The body cannot be active in sin while Christ dwells there. Light and darkness cannot cohabit. To claim to have put light and darkness in the same room and still have the two of them pari passu is lying with impunity. One must always give way for the other; either sin goes or Christ departs.
 To be dead to sin is to become unresponsive to anything that offends God.
 It is to remain unyielding to any urge or pressure of unrighteousness.
 It is to appear lifeless to all acts of unrighteousness. Remember, all unrighteousness is sin. – I John 5:17
Through the help of the Holy Spirit; Apostle Paul gave us a powerful revelation that any believer who wishes to, can do, by the help of the Holy Spirit; he said:
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” – Romans 8:13
It is important for us to know that the Spirit of God will not force man against His wish. Genesis 6:3. The Holy Spirit helps us in line with our wish that lines up with the scriptures. We must go beyond claiming the promises of the scriptures to applying ourselves to the demands of scriptures; this is the difference between a baby believer and a maturing one.
Don’t choke Christ out of you; give Him the chance to live through you! Fulfilment of all scriptural promises will become a natural sequence. For instance, believers are not to follow signs; signs are to follow believers. – Mark 16:17
