“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” – John 15:16
According to the statement of the Master above, every believer is chosen and ordained. To be chosen is to have the benefit of being selected among many. To be ordained in our context is to be appointed. This means that every believer is both privileged to be selected among many as well as appointed by God. The terms of the appointment are:
- Bring forth fruit;
- Let your fruit remain.
The remuneration is an open ended answer to prayer. It is scriptural wisdom for believers to see soul winning as the reason for salvation and everything that God has done for the believer. It is scriptural intelligence for every believer to invest his/her all into the kingdom business of soul winning. That is the reason God chose and appointed us. But why would God put Himself through the hassles of choosing and appointing (unstable) man to take care of a very important assignment (that requires stability) of soul winning? God gave the earth to man. Psalm 115:16. Man handed over to the enemy of God through disobedience. Genesis 3:1-6. This is the reason that satan was bold enough to tell Jesus at temptation that the glory of the world was delivered to him. Who delivered it unto him? Certainly not God; Adam and his wife of course. Luke 4:5-6.
God had to come to the world in the likeness of men to defeat the devil and empower man to take back what man handed over to the devil in the first place. Therefore, believers’ empowerment is not just to take care of some things or all things that pertain to self but to see to the expansion of the Kingdom of God. Expansion of the kingdom of God on the other hand is about seeing many souls saved and established in the church. God invested His all and His best in this businesses. John 3:16. He expects every believer to do exactly what He did. This is why it is high time believers took soul winning as a full-time assignment. The appointment is not for titled pastors, evangelists or other ministry gifts alone. It is for all believers. If you are a believer; having a daily or weekly targets of those to reach for Jesus is a scriptural wisdom. You can easily be ahead of others by taking the lead.
If you are reading this and you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior; it means God is calling you now! Go straight to the salvation page on our website, say the prayer there and be in church next Sunday to consolidate your ‘selection’ and ‘ordination’. It is the best decision anyone can ever make on the earth.
Remember, as a believer, you are chosen and ordained; you must defend your being selected out of many, you must justify your ordination. Many are called but few are chosen. Matthew 22:14. One can be selected and be rejected, the first can become the last and the last can become the first. Matthew 20:16
