There is an appointed place for every child of God. God does not just appoint a place for His children; He plants them in their appointed place. The Bible says
“Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,” – II Samuel 7:10
“Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,” I Chronicle 17:9
It is scriptural wisdom to locate the appointed place and abide there. From our texts it is clear that God expects his people to be planted in their appointed and ordained place. The danger in spiritual wandering could better be imagined than experienced. The Bible says:
“As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.” – Proverbs 27:8
A wandering bird is a most vulnerable bird; vulnerable to the hazards of natural elements and man-made risks. Safety and security is guaranteed in God’s appointed place.
In the same way, God appoints and gives pastors according to His heart to His people. He said:
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.” – Jeremiah 3:15-16
The appointed pastors are ordained to feed God’s people with spiritual understanding. It is through spiritual understanding that the people will begin to multiply and increase in the land (their appointed place). It is important to know that multiplication, increase and flourishing is a function of spiritual understanding. Spiritual understanding comes through being fed by God-appointed pastors. Therefore, flourishing is not obtained or received at “spiritual drive-through”. Those that are caught up in the web of spiritual wandering are obviously far from being fed and nurtured into spiritual understanding. It is spiritual wisdom to locate one’s God ordained place as a believer; it is scriptural intelligence to abide in one’s spiritual place and continually get fed with spiritual understanding under one’s God ordained shepherd.
If you are reading this, and you have not taken the deliberate step of accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior; go to the salvation page on our website, say the prayers there and be in church next Sunday to consolidate your decision. I assure you, this is the best thing that can ever happen to anyone on earth.
Do not be ‘caught up’ in spiritual wandering. Settle down with God. You cannot go wrong with Him.
