The Bible says:

“Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.” – Isaiah 31:1-3

God considered it an insult for Judah to go down to Egypt for help.  Though Egypt appeared strong militarily; but, before Judah could seek help from Egypt, she had to go down!  Judah belonged to the Almighty God but Egypt was an heathen nation.  Judah went down to Egypt for help because; Judah was trusting in men and what they could see rather than trusting in God.  Judah was serving her own interests rather than serving the interest of God.  Judah did not want to accept responsibility to pay the price for God’s blessings which includes indestructible and impregnable hedge of protection.  As a result, God vowed that both Judah and Egypt would fall as a result of their arrogance.

Without God, man is helpless.  God is the source of all that man will ever need.  Many believers are caught up in the satanic web of seeking for things rather than seeking God.  Therefore, they could go from place to place; from person to person; from one spiritualist to another just like Judah of old as mentioned in our text today.  Their trust is rather in man than in God; they are serving their own interest rather than the interest of God, they would rather want someone to ‘fix it’ for them rather than accept responsibility as contained in the scriptures to get blessed by God.  Some could even see God’s process too slow for them.

Spiritual wandering is a risk!  Apart from being completely unscriptural, believers that engage in it could easily submit themselves to an agent of the devil willingly without knowing.  The Bible says:

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” – II Corinthians 11:14

The devil’s weapon and power is deceit; he masquerades himself as an angel of light.  The purpose is simple to deceive many, even the very elects.  If you are not deceived by satan, you cannot be defeated by him.  Eve was defeated by satan simply because she fell flat to the deceitful prowess of satan.  You will not fall victim.  There are many masquerades out there who are just after their bellies (Philippians 3:18-19); some of them could be direct agent of satan while others may be ‘blind’ agents of the same satan.  The former is aware of being an agent of the devil while the latter is being used of the devil but in blindfolds.  A believer would save him/herself by not submitting to ‘spiritual wandering’.

It is high time believers said no to ‘spiritual wandering’.  It is a bit funny for believers to be hovering around places collecting ‘special prayers’ all over town.  What you need is already packaged in the Word of God; all that is needed is get spiritually fed, built up and take delivery of you inheritances in Christ.

If you are reading this and you are yet to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior; go to the salvation page of our website, say the prayer there and be in church next Sunday to consolidate your decision.  It is the best decision anyone could ever make.
