“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – I Peter 5:7

To cast in our context mean to throw our care forcefully to God while trusting Him that He will take care of them.  Care in our context mean things that are necessary for our total wellbeing.

Brethren, you cannot obey this simple scriptural instruction and be depressed.  You cannot be distressed when you are carefree.  When we are stressed by the demands of life, it is an indication that we have not trusted God fully with our lives.  It is an indication that we are trying to fix things by ourselves.  It means that we are trying to re-invent the wheel; trying to do what God has done for us that we cannot do in the first place.  The Bible says:

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” – II Peter 1:2-3

Brethren, we have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness!  All things that facilitate our all-round wellbeing have been given to us.  They are not going to be given to us; they have been given already!  That sounds great to me.  That is why the scripture above concludes that God has called us to glory and virtue (that is power).

Friends, we only to seek the knowledge of the Giver of those things that pertain unto life and godliness.  As we grow in the knowledge of Him; we also grow in our trust in Him.  A baby who has come to know his/her father as loving and responsible over a few month and years would jump towards the father without the fear of being hurt on the instruction of the father to jump.

Throwing our cares on Him is an indication that we trust Him not to let us down.  The good news is that it is impossible for God to fail.  His word cannot return to Him void, it must deliver the purpose.  Isaiah 55:11.

As a matter of fact, God did not say that we should cast some of the cares upon Him.  He said that we should cast all our cares on Him!  His might is more than enough to take care of all of it.  God expects us to continually cast all our cares upon Him.  Finding any believer with “care” is not just a violation of scriptures; it is carrying what does not belong to the believer.

Any time a believer is looking morose and depressed;

  • He/she has been disobeying God,
  • Violating scriptures,
  • Carrying what does not belong to him/her,
  • Judging God unfaithful,
  • Judging God as incapable of handling the care!

This sounds ridiculous, isn’t it?  Don’t throw your care on your spouse, no! Don’t throw your care on any mortal!  It is an insult to God.  Cast all your cares continually upon God.  He is not just able to fix them.  He is willing to fix them and ready to do it now!

If you have not received Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior.  You need to do that now!  He cares for you!
