“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” – Proverbs 13:12
Answered prayer is “…a tree of life…” but God is able to do much more for His children. The Bible says:
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
God is able and willing to do far above what we may ask or think. God’s capacity to deliver is far more than man’s ability to demand. If man can think it; it is already below God’s ability to perform. If man can ask for it, it is below God’s capacity to deliver.
However, every act of God is a function of man’s strict adherence to His ways. Those that will get God to respond to their request before they ever make any presentation to Him are those that do not just know His ways but they are those that are sold out to walking in the ways of God. For instance Jesus Christ gave an open check to answered prayer when He said:
“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” – John 15:14-16
The commandment of the Master to secure an open check on the prayer altar and join the company of “…before they call…” is soul winning, soul ingathering and soul establishment. Obedience to the commandment of soul winning is a guarantee to have “whatsoever” in prayer. Living a lifestyle of soul winning is in the interest of every believer. This cannot be over emphasized; it is not helping God rather it is helping self.
A pastor shared with me how his four year old daughter preached one of the greatest messages I ever heard on soul winning; let’s see the conversation below:
Daughter: (Ran to the Dad after his return from work in the evening) “Dad, how many souls did you win today?”
Daddy: (Answering casually but responding in love to his daughter) “O, I was so busy in the office that I did not even have time for any other thing”
Daughter: (looking startled) “We are supposed to talk to people about Jesus Christ every time we go out.”
As far as the daughter was concerned, the Dad wasted the day by going out and not talking to anyone about Jesus Christ irrespective of the excuses advanced by the Dad. Soul winning is not just a commandment; it is our covenant positioning for open heaven answers to prayers. We can always take advantage of this by setting our priorities and making the right choices.
