“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and why they are yet speaking, I will hear” – Isaiah 65:24
The beauty of prayer is answer or assured answers from God. God promised to answer the prayer of the believers. He commanded the believers to keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking and with the assurance that He would answer. Matthew 7:7-8. He said the believers should call on Him and he would not just answer but he would answer and show believers great and mighty things that have not been known before. Jeremiah 33:3
While it is great to have our prayers answered; it would be wonderful to have God respond before a call is made; it would be most glorious to receive answer while we are still praying. Incidentally, this is God’s agenda for any believer who would care to pay the price of putting God first in everything. Jesus said:
“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Matthew 6:25-34
If believers will put the interest of God and His kingdom first; he/she is already in the company of “…before they call, I will answer; and why they are yet speaking, I will hear” because “…your heavenly Father knows your needs. However, He desires the believers to be different from the world by making Him (God) and His interest on the earth their focus. Rather than spending most or all of the time running after what others run after; it is most beneficial to put God and His interest on the earth first. This cannot be over emphasized. Let God take the first position in your thought, words and action and you will become ‘primus inter pares’ before God.
Dr. David Oyedepo once said that he asked God “won’t you wait for someone to ask before you answer” and God told him that there is a company of believers that “before they ask, I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I go ahead to perform”.
A believer’s value to God is measured by the believer’s value he/she placed on God and the interest of his kingdom. The choice is yours!
