“For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither defile ye yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore, be holy, for I am holy.” Leviticus 11:44-45
God (the Father) is holy – Zeph. 3:5, Job 34:10; God (the Son – Jesus Christ) is holy – II Corinthians 5:21, God the Spirit (the Holy Spirit) is not just holy; He is the Spirit of holiness. Romans 1:4. Therefore, God is the thrice holy God.
Some other gods are violent, promiscuous, spiteful, bloodthirsty, wicked etc. The nature of these gods are reflective in their followers. The true God is holy. He demands and expects His followers to manifest the same nature of holiness. The Bible states clearly:
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” – I Peter 1:15-16
The fundamental component of the DNA of God is holiness while that of the devil is sin. The call to Christianity is a call to holiness. What to be according to God is to be holy as He (God) is holy. Holiness is:
- Being totally devoted or dedicated to God;
- Being set aside for His special use;
- Being set apart from sin and its influence;
It is important to note that God is our Maker. Psalm 100:3. The maker of any product does not just know the capacity of the product; he determines it. It will be unjust for God (our Maker) to place a demand on us to do what He knew we do not have the capacity to do. God is just, He knows that we are able to ‘be holy’, if we choose to be. He has also empowers us to ‘be holy’, if we choose to allow His Spirit to help us. Genesis 6:3. The call to Christianity is a call to come out of the world; not to blend with the world but to be different from the world.
The message of holiness is a classical one needed in this generation more than ever before. Believers are called into holiness. I Thessalonians 4:7. As a matter of fact, the dwelling place of God among the saints – Zion should be a place of holiness not just a place where believers “go” for deliverance and “grab” and ‘possess their possessions’. The Bible says:
“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possession.” – Obadiah vs 17
The church of Jesus Christ (which is the New Testament mount Zion) should be the most holy place on the planet earth. The dwellers (that is, the Christians) are required and mandated to be holy.
Believers in Jesus Christ should not just be running around with revelation of being gods; revelation without application will ultimately lead to delusion, self-deceit and frustration. If we must operate as gods on the earth, we must be holy like God of heaven.

Jesus is Lord!
